It is difficult to choose one single english equivalent for the word "Aashray" from among the probable synonyms - Asylum, Home, Harbour, Refuge or Shelter etc. as it a phenomenal concept. However the idea is to provide succour to the needy. If all powers - cosmic and others - exerting on the universe, do ultimately harbour in God, then how can anyone be a destitute in the realm of the most Merciful, Upright, Beneficent, and Impartial & Benevolent Almighty.

Propounder of the new awakening and awareness in the modern age, Maharishi Dayanand, for the first time spoke of "Equal Human Right to Nourishment & Growth" for all. The endeavour of handing our succuor to the children of lesser god launched in 19th century in Ferozepur (Punjab) by the sage of the sages Dayanand Saraswati, sprang into a force to be reckoned in the 20th century with the push of the dynamic leadership of his great disciple Swami Shradha Nand which and has now bloomed into a multi - dimensional movement of Humanization.

Swami Shradha Nand established Arya Anathalaya in 1918 in Delhi when many children due to spread of the epidemic of plague slipped out of the umbrella of their parents. A renowned figure of Delhi and a great visionary of his time Shri Des Raj Chaudhry later on nursed this sapling of the Orphanage with all his might and resources and today under the legacy of a committed, devotion of his worthy son shri Viresh Pratap Chaudhry(Padamshri). This huge massive tree under the shadow of its large lush branches is providing home to the homeless, mother’s warmth embrace to the motherless and father’s protective hand to the fatherless.

The journey from 15 inmates to 1500 has been long and demanding. The institution has since then grown manifold. The original complex housed in the heart of old Delhi in the historical Pataudi House, Darya Ganj is completely redone to cast a grand look of a four story castle which has a large number of hostel rooms for about 1000 children, a Senior Seconadry School, huge library, up-to-date mechanized kitchen, and office rooms besides living quarters for hundred odd employees.

It sounds fanciful but truly all this was not enough and rendered inadequate for a fast growing institution as it is. As a result area of operation expanded to South Delhi. In 1967 another campus of 15 acres came into existence in picturesque hilly tract of Suraj Parbat in East of Kailash named after the founder spirit as "Des Raj Campus". The serene campus full of fresh air & healthy sunlight looks like a valley of flowers in the heart of the capital providing living accommodation to 500 orphan girls, one hundred destitute girls and 50 odd employees, a Sr. Secondary School, a girls hostel, a destitute house the campus today it a also boasts of the best Yoga & Naturopathy hospital/college of Northern India and a 450 odd seated auoditorim.

The Arya Orphanage catering to the needs of about 1500 orphan boys & girls in superb facilities of balanced nutritional nourishment, modern hygienic neat & clean habitat, value based primary, secondary & higher education, i.e. overall development like that of the privileged contemporary children and most importantly all free of cost. Besides good education, the sense of awareness and improvement of health and environment is also inculcated under the able guidance of devoted management.

The institution is fully awaken to the universal right of all children to equally and equal opportunities. The inmates do not lag behind in any sphere of life - Education, Academics, Health, Games & Sports, Cultural & Extra - curricular Activities, Character Building & Counseling. The children called ‘orphans’ in the society are provided here with best of teachers’ multi discipline education, vast libraries, well-equipped labs, vocational trainings, multi system medical care - green lawns, sports fields, playing courts, N.C.C., entertainment & educational tours and excursion trips to hill stations besides best of food & good clothes. All this does not need a proof as seeing is beliving. The carefree, worryless, smiling, healthy faces of cheerful butterflies (so called orphans) in the campus speak volumes for themselves.

A common platform of all these institution is the "Aashray". Our aim is to transform the dream of Maharishi Dayanand into a radiant realty, a massive movement of the masses, before the advent of its centenary year.

May God enable us wipe tears from all eyes.

Our Vision : Strength to the weak
Our Mission : Humanization
Our Motto : No Destitute
