About The Institution
Arya Orphanage - Brief History
Arya orphanage and its sister institutions are pioneer
in the field of child welfare, looking after the care upbringing and
education of more than 1100 orphan boys and girls, in two big complexes – one
in Pataudi House, Darya Ganj and other in Des Raj Campus, East of Kailash,
New Delhi.
Arya Orphanage was established in the year 1918 by
Swami Shraddhanand who was renowned social worker and freedom fighter.
After him late Shri Des Raj Chaudhary took over as President of Arya
Orphanage in the year 1950, phenomenal progress was achieved and when
he breathed his last in November, 1983, Arya Orphanage had grown into
a tree and its sister organisations had already established themselves
as the premier institution of the capital for the welfare of orphan and
destitute boys and girls.
Tree of The Institutions
Institutions in Pataudi House, Darya Ganj
(A) Arya Bal Griha
Presently about 600 destitute boys reside here. They are being educated from Class
I to Class XII. Some of them are even got admitted in Colleges. Children with
lesser intelligence, after qualifying Class VIII, IX, or XII are got admitted
to Industrial Training Institutes to pursue courses according to their aptitudes.
After the completion of training, they become self-reliant. They are provided
adequate assistance for getting employment, procuring equipment and staying outside.
(B) Arya Kanya Sadan
Presently about 300 destitute girts are residing here. All of them receive their
primary education while being in this institution. Later, they are admitted in
Chhatravas, Chandra Arya Vidya Mandir inSast of Kailash where they pursue their
studies from ClassMlto Class-XII. A strong foundation for their future is laid
in Arya Kanya Sadan, based on cleanliness, discipline, duty and religious dedication.
Many creative, extra-curricular and artistic activities are also vigourously pursued
in the Campus, to ensure all round development and bring put the hidden talents
and potential of the inmates.
(C) Rani Dutta Arya Vidyalaya
Til) Sept. 1995, we did not have any school of our own, which could provide education
tothe inmates of Arya Bal Griha SArya Kanya Sadan. They were sent to Municipal
Corporation schools where they did not get adequate attention as per our expectations.
With a view to provide them quality education it was decided to have our own School
in the premises of Pataudi House, Darya Ganj as well. The construction work was
Commenced which continued for four years. With an expenditure of about Rs. fifty
lacs, the building was renovated and additional rooms were provided to shape it
as a Schoof. Smt. Rani Dutta, wife of great philanthropist late Krishan Dutta,
S/o late Shri Narayan Dutta, gave special financial assistance for this cause.
Unfortunately Smt. Rani Dutta expired before the School could begin. It was decided
to name the school as 'Rani Dutta Arya Vidyalaya' in her memory.
This School was inaugurated on September 16,1995 by our National leader, ex-Prime
Minister of India, Shri Chandra Shekhar. Shri Sahib Singh Verma, the then Education
Minister of Delhi, presided over the function.
This School was initially started as a Middle School having classes from class
I to class VIII. It was upgraded as a Secondary School upto class X in April 1999.
From the academic year 2003-2004, it has been upgraded as a Senior Secondary School
upto class XII. All girls residing in Arya Kanya Sadan study till class V and
all boys living in Arya Bal Griha study till class XII in this school.
There is adequate provision of desks for seating in every study room. Besides
a big hobby room, there exists a well equipped library with a large number of
books meant for children to cater to their creative faculties.
A computer centre was recently set up in an air-conditioned room in the School.
Ten computers have been installed and linked with internet. This initiative became
possible by the assistance given by Shri Vishwa Nath Ji, owner, Raj Pal and Sons
whose magnanimous patronage has been available to the institutions since long.
This facility was extended to Des Raj Campus as well. America India International
and Xansa have been very helpful in the progressive expansion of these computer
centres. Rotary Club (Rajdhani), Lions Club, Greater Kailash and Rotary Club (North)
have also extended their generous support in providing equipment and materials
and the institutions are beholden to all of them.
Academic and educational pursuits are not the exclusive activities of the school.
Many creative,extra-curricular and artistic activities are also vigorously pursued
in the hidden talents and potential of the inmates. The children are given varied
opportunities to visit worth-seeing places like Bal Bhawan, Gandhi Smriti, Nehru
Planetarium, Science Museums, historical monuments etc. Facilities in extracurricular
activities provided by Bal Bhawan and Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti are availed
of by children in ample measure. The feedback is encouraging as our children have
depicted admirable qualities of discipline, inquisitiveness and modesty. We are
told that the mental level of these children is comparatively much higher than
other children visiting those very places.
It is worth mentioning that 150 children of Rani Dutta Arya Vidyalaya gave a cultural
performance in the Republic Day parade at Rajpath on 26th January, 2000 and won
first prize at the state level and second prize at the national level.
This School, recognised and aided by the Govt. of Delhi, is endeavoring to impart
such education, based on Aryan cultural heritage and essence of modernism, as
may make the children worthy, upright and dedicated citizens of India. It rs a
unique institution.
Institutions in Des Raj Campus, East of Kailash
Situated in C-Block, East of Kailash, near Suraj Parbat, over a vast expanse of
ten acres, surrounded by beautiful hillocks, Des Raj Campus is a fascinating place
where 'seeing is believing1 and it cannot be expressed in words. Many temples
surround it, but this Campus is a unique temple of selfless service and is dedicated
to the noble cause of Nation building. So much emphasis is laid on 'cleanliness'
that the place has become a synonym of this word.
Whispering and fluttering trees, lush green gardens with flowers all round, boundary
wall veiled in foliage of vines and creepers, well-planned and attractive buildings,
silent and spiritual ambience, create a lasting impact on the mind of a visitor.
Serene ! Splendid ! Spectacular! Peerless abode of peace and tranquility! A
wistful yearning of noble heart! A visionary's dream come true! A mission
fulfilled!
Such are the gracious remarks given by our guests and visiting dignitaries. The

Special attention is given to impart training in music and fine arts, crafts,
computer and house-hold activities to the girls residing in Des Raj Campus and
also to those living in adjoining areas and to make them well-versed in these
fields as well. To give a concrete and organised shape to these efforts, two institutions
by the names 'Chandra Kala Kendra' and 'Chandra Shram Shakti1 were established
in 1998.
(c) Chandra Kala Kendra
Chandra Kala Kendra gives training in classical and instrumental music, kathak
dance, tabla etc. The trained students undertake the examination from-Prayag Sangeet
Samiti, Allahabad. On qualifying the examination, they are given certificates.
The total tenure of these courses is six years. The trained girls participate
in annual and other functions of the institution. Their presentation is always
spectacular, earning lots of acclamation and appreciation from the audience. Training
is imparted in drawing and painting. Many girls take keen interest in it and excel
in their performance.

The main object of Chandra Shram Shakti is to train the girls in running the household
and to earn a decent living after they leave the institution. Classes in bakery-cooking,
tailoring-embroidery, and computer are taking place regularly and girls have shown
great aptitude for these courses. It is proposed to introduce some other vocations
in the near future.
Chandra Kala Kendra and Chandra Shram Shakti are well -equipped with musical instruments,
sewing and embroidery machines, modern baking ovens and other gadgets, computers
and their accessories etc. It is proposed to make both of them roll models for
women training and empowerment.
The Campus has a majestic Yagyashala where inmates of Chhatravas and Chandra Ashraya
Griha perform Sandhya-Havan every day. The Yagyashala is also utilised for Yoga-training,
weekly meetings of students and other programmes of the School. A separate library
exists at the top floor of Yagyashala for the use of the inmates of Chhatravas
& Chandra Ashraya Griha. A Gaushala also exists in the Campus which provides
milk to the inmates.
The able and intelligent girls of Chhatravas and Ashraya Griha, after they qualify
10+2 examination, are got admitted to colleges for higher studies or vocational
